Los MTV EMA 2020 han sido diferentes a cualquier otro programa anterior, pero una cosa ha seguido siendo igual: ¡tus favoritos ganaron gracias a ti!
BTS se han llevado a casa la mayor cantidad de trofeos de la noche con cuatro premios MTV EMA: "Mejor Canción", "Mejor Grupo", "Mejor Directo Online" y "Mejores Fans". Karol G ganó el primer MTV EMA a "Mejor Artista Latino" y obtuvo la "Mejor colaboración" por "Tusa" con Nicki Minaj. Lady Gaga fue coronada como "Mejor Artista" del año, y DJ Khaled aceptó su MTV EMA a "Mejor video" por su ya icónico temazo "Popstar" con Drake, protagonizado por Justin Bieber.
Y este año, el "Premio MTV EMA Generación del cambio" se otorgó a cinco mujeres fenomenales que han dedicado su tiempo, energía y talento a mejorar la justicia social y racial en todo el mundo: Kiki Mordi, una periodista de investigación que trabaja para acabar con el SARS en Nigeria; Temi Mwale, activista por la justicia racial en el Reino Unido; Catherhea Potjanaporn, fotógrafa de retratos que lucha contra el racismo en Malasia; Luiza Brasil, periodista de moda en Brasil; y Raquel Willis, escritora y activista negra transgénero en Estados Unidos.
